A Hundred Days Of This - Day 12
There is an entire playlist I listen to while using Excel. Back when I was working in a bank that playlist was my source of much-needed oopu to get through the multiple sheets. It was a random mix of songs by Mani Sharma, Anirudh Ravichandran, Devi Sri Prasad, Raj-Koti, and many more. Somehow listening to music while solving problems and sorting data always helped me stay focused.
It started in 2009 when I was in my 10th grade preparing for the multiple exams. I used to plug in my earphones and listen to the radio while solving trigonometry. Post 8 pm most of the radio channels would play Bollywood songs and listening to them while breaking my head over sine and cosine is a core memory for me. During the Intermediate phase I had an iPod Nano and my playlist on iTunes was an absolute banger, I wish there is a way to retrieve that list now. Around the same time, thanks to StumbleUpon (hands down the best website this world has ever seen) I came across 8tracks and was introduced to the world of ASMR and instrumental scores. My taste in music was elevated to a whole new level. Then there was SoundCloud and an insane website that recommended music according to your mood. It had an amazing UI and the song mapping blew my mind, all of this was in 2012 mind you. No AI, no fancy 'recommended for you' on Spotify and YouTube.
Listening to music has always been a part of my daily routine. My mother would make me listen to Vividhabhaarathi as a child, and according to her, it was not a major distraction like watching the TV. Her most common complaint with me is "eppudu chevullo ala pettukune untaava?" Honestly, that is how you raised me, amma. But I have to admit, I miss being hooked onto Janaranjani.
I usually protect my playlists with my life and do not share them with anyone. In case you, my reader, want to be rescued from being stuck in the rows and columns, do let me know. Someday, I might drop that 'MS Excel and this song' list and pray that you always remember the right formulas when you need them the most.
And that's Day 12 for you!
