That One Guy.
Every girl needs that one guy best friend in her life. She deserves at least one.
When it comes to us girls, yes, we are daddy's princesses and brother's precious love. But there's no one who can replace or substitute a guy BFF, because he's the best and you know it. Like how Harry Potter is to Hermione Granger, these guys are to us. One who takes our side, one who is ready to fight for us, and one who does not act desperate. I've always secretly wished for my own version of the Harry-Hermione friendship. As much as we love our girl friends, we might have never told our guy best friends how much they mean to us (no, I'm not talking about those friend-zoned characters) Here's why you should not take him for granted and thank him often.
- He has a solution for all your problems. Trust me, this guy will be the first person who will make an effort to know what went wrong and he will never fail to come up with an answer for your questions. He's like your Google, ask anything, he will respond in less than 10 seconds. Be it an hour long conversation or a simple mail or a text message, he will be there to make you feel better. Or even a hug would be much relieving.
- Sometimes he's much better than your girl friends. There will be days when you are tired of the drama and the routine of life and the girls around make it much more worse for you. (no denying the fact that I'm a drama queen.) It feels good to be around these fellas who don't give a damn about the world and avoid the whole "you know what happened with that one?" crap.
- He never complains. No, never. Mother promise. You can tell him you'll be there at the restaurant in 10 minutes and come after 2 hours, he will not say a thing. He might sit there and finish eating three ice-creams while waiting, that is another thing, but he'll never complain about how you wasted his time and all of that. He'll even go to shopping with you and help you choose the perfect dress after you're done trying everything that's available. Again, he'll not open his mouth. Wait, does he have a choice?
- He is not the kind of person who'd judge you. You can be 'you' when you're hanging out with this dude. He wouldn't mind if you start crying while reading Love Story. He wouldn't go saying "you have a pimple on your nose, that looks terrible." Or stop you from eating your favourite pizza, "so many calories!", no, probably he'd say, "don't want to eat, I'll finish yours, don't worry." He'll tolerate you and your Barbie sets and will eventually start watching the romantic-comedies with you. Plus, you don't have to think twice to speak out your (dirty) mind with him.
- He is your 'Guide To Understand Men'. What if your brother started behaving a little weird or you need help with planning your boyfriend's birthday? If not him, who else would come to your rescue, right. Oh yes, guy BFFs also happen to be good at dealing with heart breaks and relationships. He'd sit with you until 3 a.m. to sort out the missing pieces of the puzzle. Don't quite get what is the Offsides Rule in football or the Duckworth Lewis method from cricket, or how the wheel and axle in an automobile works, leave it to him, he can explain it better.
- He will be honest with you, always. Because he is good at it. On the days when you're all high and extremely excited he is the one who will hit you on the head and bring you back into the reality. He's not going to nod his head for everything you say or add fuel to the fire. He will tell you the truth no matter what, even if it hurts you and even if you get mad. You tend to overreact at times, (we're hardwired to get tensed) but he's got patience to listen to the silly stories and give real advice. We all need that once in a while, don't we? Only real friends tell us that our face is dirty when it actually is.
Admit it, he has done more than this for you. He's going to fight with you, use swear words and even tell your parents that you jumped the signal yesterday, in the end you can't help but love them more than anyone! I'm not saying I'm the know-it-all Hermione Granger, this one is for the Harry Potter I've met who isn't that good with spells but he knows how to obliviate hate and accio happiness.
To all the guy BFFs, what would we do without you.
